This skillet right here is one of the most money-well-spent items you can have, and I'll explain why... With even heating and high temp capability, this can be used on an open campfire to sear steaks, on a griddle top to fry fish, or in an oven to bake biscuits or cornbread. Pretty much anything you can think of to cook in this, you can do it.
Cleanup of the skillet is a breeze, and generally no soap needed, that is if you properly season it to begin with. Speaking from experience, if it is not seasoned well, they can be a bear to get clean, and even when you do, you have to deal with some level of rust when it dries. Then at that point you need to re-season altogether. However, seasoning the skillet is not a difficult process. The best way is to cover it will oil, bacon grease (clean), or something similar, and heat it until it begins to smoke. You can repeat this process a few times adding a fresh layer of oil each time until the skillet has a nice dark coating. This surface will be naturally non-stick. After each cooking use, you will want to quickly re-season with one round of oil, or just apply some oil after it is cleaned up and ready to put away.
These Lodge skillets come in a multitude of different sizes and styles, but the 10.25" diameter skillet seems to be one of the most popular. I also like the smaller 3.5" skillet for cooking 1 or 2 eggs quickly. These skillets will not break the bank, making them an easy sell to get for your next outdoor cook!
